Hon. Rodney E. Hood

The Honorable Rodney E. Hood is a former federal banking regulator and longtime advocate for financial inclusion, with a strong commitment to serving those who serve our nation. During his time as Acting Comptroller of the Currency, a Board Member of the FDIC, and Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration, he worked to strengthen the financial system while advancing access to capital for all Americans—including military personnel, veterans, and their families.

Throughout his career, Mr. Hood has supported responsible expansion of Veterans Administration lending and championed policies that ensure servicemembers have access to safe, affordable financial services—whether at home or deployed around the globe. Under his leadership, agencies increased outreach to military communities and improved regulatory clarity for lenders serving veterans and active-duty servicemembers.

A leader in innovation, Mr. Hood has emphasized the role of fintech in expanding digital access to banking services—especially critical for military families stationed worldwide. He reinstated the OCC’s Office of Financial Technology and Innovation, approved a fintech bank charter to support small business lending, and paved the way for banks to offer modern tools like crypto custody and mobile-first financial products.

Mr. Hood is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned degrees in business, political science, and communications. He was recently honored with UNC’s Outstanding Alumni Award. He was also named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in Davos, is a Salzburg Global Fellow, and is actively engaged with the American Council on Germany.
