Heather Walrath, Navy Mutual’s Financial Educator and Military Benefits Liaison, has enjoyed working with military members and families for the last 16 years. She is a 2009 FINRA Military Spouse Fellow and is an Accredited Financial Counselor through AFCPE, and also a Military Qualified Financial Planner and an Accredited Veterans Representative.
She has worked as a Personal Financial Counselor (PFC) with all branches of the military, including the Guard and Reserve components, and is considered a subject matter expert on military survivor benefits. She has been a featured contributor to magazines such as Military Spouse, Military Family, Guard and Reserve Magazine, and a featured speaker with MOAA, Blue Star Families, MilMoney, the Arc of Northern Virginia, AFCPE, and Student Veterans of America. She was awarded the FINRA Military Spouse Fellow Mentor of the Year in 2024. Heather also served our military community for over 25 years as a military spouse and is an advocate for transitioning service members and spouses, facilitating financial education and SBP presentations at military installations nationwide. She also assists with VA disability claims and VA benefit eligibility. Heather uniquely understands the challenges and opportunities of military life and is thankful that her family finally settled in northern Virginia with her husband’s retirement from the Air Force in 2023.
