It’s 2017. What is the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) Up To?
The answer: a lot! The CFPB Office of Servicemember Affairs (OSA) is busy creating materials and providing guidance and information that is specific to servicemembers, veterans and their families.
In December, the OSA released fraud protection tools to help safeguard servicemembers and veterans. This includes a fact sheet which includes information on Active Duty Alerts and other alerts that servicemembers can add to their credit report to protect credit during deployments. More information can be found at http://www.consumerfinance.gov/servicemembers/
In addition to the fraud protection tools, the OSA also released a student loan action guide. Many servicemembers may not know about the special protections they are entitled to when it comes to student loans. The CFPB-OSA released a fact sheet about student loans as well.
The Office of Servicemembers Affairs is also welcoming a new Assistant Director, Mr. Paul Kantwill, to succeed Ms. Holly Petraeus as she retires. Congratulations, Mr. Kantwill! Your friends at AMBA look forward to working with you!
