Earlier this month the CFPB released a blog about the tools that servicemembers can utilize to help protect their credit. The CFPB also included a Fact Sheet with simple information to get servicemembers started. Another great tool is to check your credit report each year. Every American is entitled to see a free copy of their credit report from each credit-reporting agency, TransUnion, Equifax and Experian, once per year. You can pull a credit report every four months to spread it out or you can pull them all at once. Sometimes there can be information that will appear on one but not the others. Go to AnnualCreditReport.com for your free report.
