Brigadier General (Ret.) Omuso George named as AMBA’s President & CEO

Welcoming Omuso George as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Military Banks of America

The Association of Military Bankers America (AMBA) Board of Directors has named Omuso D. George as the new President and CEO of AMBA. Omuso is a retired U.S. Army Brigadier General with extensive experience in military finance and public sector consulting. Omuso will lead AMBA’s strategic membership growth, manage legislative, military, and financial industry relationships, and cultivate continued military banking innovation and relevancy to best serve America’s service members, veterans, and their families.

A proven track record overseeing diverse teams within the US Army, as well as managing and fostering strong relationships with clients and private industry leaders alike, Omuso’s leadership will ensure that AMBA continues to thrive as it serves the financial needs of the military community.

“Omuso’s experience in military and veterans banking issues coupled with his ability to grasp the evolving transformations in delivering banking services make him the perfect fit for AMBA”, said Michael League, current Chair of AMBA’s Board of Directors. “He is perfectly positioned to lead AMBA into the future.”

The AMBA Board of Directors is confident that this leadership appointment will see AMBA continue to positively affect the lives of millions of military service members, veterans, and families who are supported by AMBA member banks, currently numbered at 91 and growing – adding value at the pivotal crossroads of banking, government, and the military. Omuso succeeds the retiring Steven Lepper after his 9 years of leadership as AMBA’s CEO.

The Association of Military Banks of America is a not for profit association of banks perating on military installations, banks not located on military installations but serving military and veteran customers, and military banking facilities designated by the United States Treasury. Founded in 1959, the association’s membership includes community banks and large multinational financial institutions, all of which are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
